Together we can reach for the stars
Bright Star Foundation operates two day health programs for elderly and disabled adults in Massachusetts. The mission of our centers is to serve the unique needs of Hispanic and Latino communities of Salem, Lynn and neighboring communities to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each participant. Our Salem center is open 7 days a week 363 days a year, and is the largest adult day health center on the North Shore with a capacity for 216 daily participants. Our Lynn center opened in 2018, and is the largest day care center in Lynn with a capacity for 189 participants. Both of our centers offer nursing care, three daily nutritious meals, cultural entertainment, exercise classes, transportation and many activities, all free of charge to our participants
When Bright Star was founded, our primary mission revolved around bringing warmth and companionship to elderly patients residing in nursing homes, rest homes, and residences, many of whom lacked families of their own. We brightened their days with the presence of therapy animals, engaged them in therapeutic activities, taught computer skills, and gathered holiday presents.
Our commitment extended to the sponsorship and coordination of service dog training programs, benefiting individuals coping with seizures, migraines, PTSD, heart conditions, and various disabilities. In addition, we provided support to local animal shelters and rescue organizations worldwide, contributing to the preparation of dogs destined to become invaluable service animals.
Throughout the challenging COVID-19 pandemic, our dedication remained unwavering. We supplied essential household provisions, delivered groceries to those confined to their homes, and facilitated vital connections with families and communities to combat the perils of isolation and depression.
Whether it's the additional support required for your household chores or the assistance necessary for showers and personal care to ensure your safety and comfort within your home, rest assured that we are at your service. Just let us know your needs, and we will promptly arrange the required assistance, often in collaboration with our partnering organizations, all without any financial burden on your part.
In our Florida branch, we proudly administer a specialized program designed specifically for Holocaust survivors residing in South Florida. This unique initiative offers a range of services, from personal care and housekeeping to round-the-clock live-in support, all provided entirely free of charge to our valued clients.
In our ongoing commitment to community well-being, we maintain close partnerships with frontline healthcare providers. Our efforts have enabled these essential caregivers to access crucial resources such as personal protective equipment (PPE) and disinfectants, empowering them to deliver high-risk services with the utmost safety and care.
